Do you need Home Owners Warranty Insurance?

By Law in Australia, registered builders need to provide home warranty insurance when dealing direct with a home owner if the following conditions are true:

• If you are a registered builder or contractor, this includes; a cabinet maker, carpenter, landscape gardener, swimming pool builder, brick layer, etc;
• If you provide building services to the home owner in the states of Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania, WA, & SA.
• If the contract value of a project is over the sum of $12,000 in value.

* (This applies to residential projects up to 4 levels only)

Home warranty insurance provides protection to the consumer (home owner) for disapperance of the builder and faulty workmanship for a period up to 6.5 years from the date of the contract.
