Approval of Eligibility with CGIB is required before proceeding with this form.
Use this form to obtain a Home Warranty Insurance Certificate for projects involving more than 3 units on the one site.

Do I need Builders Home Warranty Insurance?

By Law in Australia, registered builders must provide home warranty insurance when dealing direct with a home owner if the following conditions are true:


  • If you are a registered builder or contractor, this includes; a cabinet maker, carpenter, landscape gardener, swimming pool builder, brick layer, and other trades contractors, etc;
  • If you provide building services to the home owner in the states of Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania, WA, & SA.
  • If the contract value of a project is $12,000 or over (excluding WA which $20,000).

* (This applies to residential projects up to 3 levels only)

Home warranty insurance provides protection to the consumer (home owner) for death, disappearance or bankruptcy of the builder, defects and faulty workmanship for a period of up to 6 years from the date of the signed building contract.
